This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery we have been very busy, filling and emptying containers! We explored the wooden scoops, using them to move dried chickpeas between the different sized pots.

Some of us enjoyed outdoor play this week, exploring the bottom garden and sandpit! We even spotted our older siblings in the Kindergarten and Pre-School rooms, and thought that was very exciting. Upstairs in the rooftop garden we have loved using the tunnel, crawling through carefully to reach the other side!

In the art area we have been creating marks with the insect and animal stamps! We carefully dipped the stamps into brightly coloured paint, pressing it down to reveal fish, ladybird and bird shapes!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we explored tesselation and symmetry at the art table! We got creative with paint, experimenting with lots of different shapes and patterns, then when we were finished folded the paper over carefully. We then unfolded it to reveal a matching pattern on the other side!

We've had lots of different types of weather this week but it hasn't stopped us going out to play in the garden! We loved exploring the physical resources in the top garden, experimenting with the different ways we can climb, balance and jump from the balance beams!

Back inside we explored shapes in a tuff tray. We looked carefully at each plastic piece, talking about their similarities and differences. We counted up how many corners and lines they have - and noticed that some don't have any at all, wow!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we took part in a mathematical matching game! We each were given a bowl with a number inside, and took turns seeing if we recognised that number. We then used tweezers to collect the right number of gems to put in our bowl!

In the art studio we expressed ourselves with tissue paper! We had lots of fun ripping it up into pieces, finding this very funny. We then used glue to stick the different shapes and colours down, discussing with our peers what we had created!

Some of us older children took part in a Letters and Sounds activity this week. We took turns to look at cards with different short words on, looking carefully at the letters underneath. We had a go at sounding out each letter, then finally seeing if we could say the full word!
