Nursery
This week in Nursery, a group of us ventured into the front garden to explore! We were fascinated by the planters, looking closely at the different flowers that were still blooming. We also had a little play with the outdoor resources, sitting in the tyres!
Back inside, there have been some new additions to our third room - wooden mirrors and sensory sequin shapes. We have spent lots of time here this week, recognising ourselves in the reflection of the mirror and pulling faces! We discovered that moving our hands across the sequins showed a new colour, experimenting with making patterns.
Autumn is truly here and we have been exploring all that nature has to offer this season! We were invited to play with some miniature pumpkins, picking them up with our hands and navigating the different weights of them. We thought it was funny to put them on our head for a photograph!

Kindergarten
It's World Space Week, so here in Kindergarten we've been getting up to some astronomical activities! As we explored some soft squidgy moondough in a tray, we talked about what we can see when we look up into the night sky. We learned about the moon and the stars - and that we can even see planets sometimes!
At the art table we made some starry, speckled artwork using toothbrushes. Our adults demonstrated how to dip the brushes into paint and 'flick' them, but we also tried sweeping and stamping with the brushes to cover the paper!
We have also been taking part in some imaginative small world play, with a farmyard set up! We picked up the toy animals and moved them through all sorts of dry resources - cornflakes, puffed rice, shredded paper - and noticed the different noises each would make.

Pre-School
This week Pre-School we have been learning about shapes! We were invited to use lots of different paper shapes to create a collage. As we picked up each one we discussed the properties of it - does it have lots of corners? Is it smooth and round?
Out in the garden we took part in a safari themed yoga session! We imagined we were moving through a jungle, and discussed the different animals we might see. We used different body movements, stretching our necks like giraffes and jumping like monkeys!
In the art studio we have been experimenting with colour, using pipettes! We tried adding one colour to the paper, and then another - what happened? Sometimes we made brand new colours, wow!
