This week our nursery room has been feeling distinctly Autumnal! We were invited to explore a tray full of real leaves, dry and crunchy. We reached in with both of our hands, picking up handfuls and scattering it back down into the tray. We also moved our hands around in the tray, noticing all the sounds we could create!
At the art table we have been expressing ourselves creatively, being given the choice to make art however we want! Some of us chose to use the gluesticks, carefully pressing down sequins and dried pasta, whilst some of us used the paint dabbers to add colour!
We also got stuck into a playdough activity this week. We used our hands to manipulate the mixture, noticing how our hands and fingers left marks in the dough. We were also encouraged to use the cutter shapes, watching as the adults demonstrated how to press them down into the dough and leave a mark!
This week in Kindergarten we have been learning all about space! It's World Space Week, so looked at some pictures of our solar system. We then explored the coloured pasta, discovering the hidden aliens! Some of us were able to identify the different colours, and count out how many eyes the aliens had!
Out in the garden we have been playing with the water pots and paint. We used the paintbrushes to create colourful marks on the floor! We showed great patience and cooperation with this activity, sharing the resources and waiting for our turn.
In the art area we took part in a terrific tuber activity, all about potatoes! We talked about where potatoes come from, how they are grown, and all the different ways we can eat them. Boiled, mashed, in a stew, yum! We then picked up the potatoes and felt how heavy they were - then created our own masterpieces using paint!
This week, some of us ventured down to the dining room to take part in a baking activity! We made some vegan biscuits, listening carefully as the grown ups listed what ingredients we needed to add. We helped weighh out the flour, spread and sugar, stir it all together and cut it into sweet flower shapes!
Out in the garden we noticed the seasonal changes and leaves that had dropped from the trees. We were invited to do some leaf printing, pressing the leaves down into paint and carefully lifting them off. We were amazed at all the delicate, fine patterns we had revealed!
This month for Space Week, we got stuck into a sensory tray! We noticed the paper rockets, and role played travelling from one 'planet' to another!
