This week in Flax Bourton, we have been doing lots of reading! Some of us explored the books independently, turning the pages to look carefully at the pictures. We also focused really well, sitting as a group and listening to a story being read to us!
With our animal puzzles out, we were given the opportunity to practice fitting the pieces correctly onto the board. We became better at it with each try, and if a piece didn't quite fit we learned to rotate or flip it over to make it work!
We also took a trip to Gatcombe Farm this week! We were fascinated by all the animals we could see - ducks, sheep, chickens, and a donkey called Dash!
This week in the over twos, we have been mark making! We tried using the rollers, dipping them into the paint trays and experimenting with all the different movements we could make. We tried rolling forwards and backwards, side to side, and even gently tapping them up and down on the paper!
At group time we have been talking about our favourite animals. We each had the chance to say what our favourite animals were, then we took part in some activities relating to them! Some of us used the construction blocks to build houses and dens for our toy animals, carefully stacking them and making sure they didn't fall.
We also explored an animal themed sensory tray! We role played with the toy animals, moving the horses and sheep to 'eat' the cereal hay! There was also a foamy sea, we moved the sea animals across the surface and noticed we could make marks in the foam!
