This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery we have been feeling Autumnal! We got stuck into this playdough invitation to play, making hedgehogs. Our adults showed how we could push pieces of pasta into the dough to make spikes, and we carefully copied them, making our own patterns as we went!

We have spent lots of time in the book corner, particularly enjoying the 'That's Not My...' books! We independently turned the pages and explored the different textures inside.

There were more textural activities elsewhere as we explored a split tray full of sand, chocolate mousse, and toy animals! We used our hands to pick up the toys, stomping them around in the tray and making them roll around in the 'mud'!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we took part in a mini construction activity! We used the foam bricks, spreading sticky foam between them to secure them together. We focused well on getting the bricks to tesselate, building great walls and towers!

We also took part in a group activity, exploring the animal cards. We each had a chance to recognise the animal on the card, and tried making the sounds of that animal! We also learned about the environment they live in and what food they eat.

Out in the top garden, we had a helping hand from gravity with a mark making activity! Amy set up a long strip of paper, all the way down the slide, and we took turns to pick different vehicles to roll down through the paint! We looked at the different patterns we could make, and decided to use the vehicles as stamps at the bottom of the slide too.

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School, some of us took a trip to the Dale! On our way there we spotted the recycling bins in local houses, and we talked about why we use these and what goes in them. When we arrived we played a game about recycling, matching the correct objects to the bins, and discussed why it's important to recycle!

Back indoors we explored some fresh lavender! We each felt a piece and smelled it, discussing what we were experiencing. We then mixed it into some homemade playdough, noticing you could still smell the scent!

In the front garden we took part in a shape matching activity! We were invited to match the plastic shapes to the correct outline, and worked together. We talked about what makes each shape different - does it have straight lines, or curves? How many corners does it have?
