This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery, we have been keeping cool with some ice play! The adults had frozen paint in ice lolly moulds, layering up the colours so it came out as a rainbow. We tried moving the ice over paper, watching as it melted leaving different colours and marks all over!

We also got stuck into a spaghetti sensory tray this week! We enjoyed this curious new texture, discovering the long pieces that were all mixed together. Some of us carefully picked out individual strands, whilst others picked up great handfuls and dropped them back down again into the tray!

We also explored rice and red lentils this week. They were presented to us with different sized bowls and trays, so we experimented with pouring and picking up handfuls of the mixture and moving them around in the containers!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we have been creating artwork with vehicles! We used the toy cars, dipping them in paint and moving them in a back and forth motion, noticing the different patterns this created.

Out in the garden we have been keeping cool with the water tray! We helped make bubbles by adding washing up liquid and mixing it all together, and explored the toy fish. We loved dropping the fish in from a height to make a big splash! 

Back inside we made crafty caterpillars in the art studio! We stuck lots of different coloured pompoms onto lollipop sticks, focusing really well to line them up carefully. Afterwards some of us had a go at counting how many pompoms we had!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we ventured up to the top garden to see if we could find some butterflies! We had a checklist with lots of different varieties on, and we used our binoculars and magnifying glasses to look high and low. We didn't manage to find any - but we did spot some ants, spiders, and birds flying over the nursery!

Down in the cool Dining Room, we really loved taking part in a group yoga activity. We recreated the different poses as the adults showed them, even though some were quite difficult and we had to use our balancing skills! We found it really funny when we wobbled over, and even made up our own poses at the end. 

Back upstairs some of us decorated some yummy biscuits! We decided which colour icing we were going to use, and took turns with our peers to place the different icing on our biscuits. We focused really on this activity, watching as the mixture fell onto the biscuit and tried to stop it falling off the edge!
